ZHANG Dawei

Personal profile:

Dawei Zhang, professor, and doctoral tutor, concurrently serves as the deputy director of the Marine Corrosion Protection Technology Committee of the Chinese Society of Corrosion and Protection, the Secretary of the Overseas Branch of the Chinese Society of Corrosion and Protection, the Asia Pacific Liaison of the Technical Committee of the American Society of Corrosion Engineers, and the Associate Editor of Corrosion Science.  Prof. Zhang mainly engages in intelligent surface protection technology, microbial corrosion and protection, material environmental failure mechanism prediction, and other aspects of research. As the leader, he has undertaken several national-level projects including the National Key R&D Program and the National Natural Science Foundation. He has published more than 70 SCI papers in journals such as Nature, Corrosion Science, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, and ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces. Prof. Zhang has won many honors such as Beijing Science and Technology New Star, First Prize of Science and Technology Progress of the Ministry of Education, Excellent Graduate Report of American Chemical Society, and Doctoral Thesis Award of Texas A&M University. The graduate students he guided have received many awards, such as the National Scholarship and the European Corruption Young Scientist Award.

2. Microbial corrosion and antibacterial/antifouling surface technology

3. Genetic engineering research of materials for polymer and coating environmental failure
