Hi World Overseas Study Association
As USTB seeks to increase its contact and cooperation with overseas universities, it has in turn provided more international exchange projects for its students to participate in. Meanwhile, more and more students have shown interest in participating in overseas exchange programs and hope to expand their international mindset through personal experiences. In light of this, the Hi World Overseas Study Association was established in 2013 in order to provide USTB students a chance to learn more about the world and interact with the university’s International student population. Since its establishment, Hi World has coordinated with the Office of International Affairs to organize lectures and provide new channels for students to acquire information on exchange programs. The Association has also organized cultural exchange events between Chinese and International students, which has not only strengthened the friendship between USTB’s Chinese and International students, but also increased students’ awareness of international exchange programs.
Language and Culture Association
Established in 2011, the Language and Culture Association is the organizer of an English Corner activity every Saturday night. We are committed to providing an excellent cultural communication experience with a unique language learning atmosphere to all Chinese and International students.
Event: English Corner
Every week, we choose interesting topics that conform to current events and festivals for all members to discuss. The event includes two parts: a game and panel discussion. The moderator always starts the evening with an ice breaker activity to help relax the atmosphere. For the rest of the time, all attendees participate in a panel discussion with topics prepared by the moderator. Through the English Corner, we create a free atmosphere for students to communicate in English.
International Student Association
The International Student Association (ISA) was registered as a campus international association in September 2018 for the purpose of promoting greater cultural exchange with USTB’s international students.
The ISA includes 3 sections: the Office, Activity , and Publicity departments. The Office department is responsible for general affairs management and directly coordinates with the university’s Office of International Affairs. The Activity department is responsible for organizing creative cultural exchange events and ensuring the smooth hosting of activities. The Publicity department is responsible for promotion work, taking pictures and writing reports on the activities.
The ISA is supported by the efforts of its chairman, three ministers and thirty-five volunteer members who have organized several events for international students. These include a Halloween Party, Campus Cooking Competition and other activities, such as the New Year Party and International Culture Exhibition.
International Communication Association
Founded in April, 2007, International Communication Community (ICC), under the International Student Center of USTB, aims to facilitate unimpeded communication across borders. By organizing various cultural exchange activities, we endeavor to bridge the gap between Chinese and foreign students, and boost a diversified campus atmosphere that encourages mutual learning and tolerance among different cultures. We hope all involved students can learn and benefit from international communication.
