USTB and Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage Hold Signing Ceremony and Unveiling of Key Scientific Research Base

On the morning of July 16th, USTB and the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage held a signing ceremony and unveiling a new key scientific research base of USTB. Mr. CHEN Mingjie, Chancellor and Director of Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage, Mr. XIANG Dechun, Associate Director of Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage, Mr. WU Guilong, Chancellor of USTB and Prof. ZANG Yong, Vice President of USTB participated in the ceremony.
Mr. WU Guilong welcomed the visiting leaders and experts and expressed that it was an honor and great responsibility to unveil one of the first batch of key scientific research bases of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage. He pointed out that USTB has a good friendship with Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage. With the expansion of the cooperation between two sides, the depth and breadth of the cooperation have also been strengthened and achieved great results. He hoped that the staff of the research base would seize the opportunity and seek to meet the needs of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage, form influential contacts and pursue innovative scientific research results in cultural relics , develop culture relics protection materials and key technologies and make more contributions to the development of Chinese culture.
Mr. CHEN Mingjie expressed that the Administration’s history with USTB has distinctive characteristics, showing strong overall strength and a willingness to cooperate with cultural institutions. After careful consideration and evaluation, the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage listed USTB as one of the first batch of key scientific research bases. Since the 18th National Congress, the Party and the State have attached great importance to the protection of cultural heritage. Mr. CHEN hoped that cultural institutions and USTB can strengthen cooperation and make breakthroughs in important projects. He believes that through joint efforts the scientific research base has a bright future and will make outstanding contributions to the future of Chinese culture.
Mr. TIE Fude, Chair of the Academic Committee of the Key Scientific Research Base and Research Scientist of the National Museum of China believed that USTB has a good approach to study and a solid theoretical foundation. It has attached great importance to the protection of cultural relics and has cultivated many outstanding talents. He believed that cooperation with USTB will play an important role in the protection of cultural relics.
At the ceremony, Mr. XIANG and Mr. WU signed the agreement to build a key scientific research base, while Mr. CHEN and Mr. WU unveiled the key scientific research base. Prof. ZANG announced the list of members of the academic committee and people in charge of the base. Mr. CHEN Mingjie presented Mr. TIE an appointment letter and Mr. WU presented Mr. GUO Hong, Chair of the base, and Mr. HAN Geng, Associate Chair of the base, appointment letters.
Leaders and experts from every department of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage, Beijing Stone Carving Art Museum, Beijing Confucian Temple and the Imperial College, the Beijing Institute of Ancient Architecture and related staff from Office of the Party, Department of Public Affairs & Communications, Department of Science and Technology, and Institute of Cultural Heritage and History of Science & Technology of USTB participated in the ceremony.
