USTB Holds Personnel Management Meetings

From October 14th to 16th, USTB held several meetings regarding talent and personnel work. The meetings focused on the deepening reform of talent and personnel development strategies for the new era.
Prof. YANG Renshu delivers a report
On October 14th, university leaders and academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering attended the meeting. Prof. YANG Renshu, president of USTB, gave a report on the topic of building a first-class teaching team with the goal of constructing a world-class university through new reforms. He pointed out that teachers are the foundation of education and the key to the success of building a first-class university. USTB should work to build a competitive teaching team that is hard-working, skilled, energetic, and innovative. In his report, Prof. YANG reviewed what USTB has achieved since the 13th five-year-plan and the challenges that USTB still faces. He stressed that USTB should have an accurate understanding of the situation facing the university, and undertake the mission outlined by the national development strategy. The university should forge ahead to carry out a talent training strategy by building a first-class teaching team.

During the meeting, the attendees reviewed Prof. ZANG Yong’s, vice president of USTB, work report, “Construct a New Personnel Framework for the New Year Through Deepening Reform”. The report focused on examining current opportunities and challenges. He reviewed what USTB has done and what it plans to do in further developing teacher’s ethics, talent recruitment, post-doctoral work, team building, assessment, and other issues in improving USTB’s personnel management system.
Speeches by teacher delegates
Leaders from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Marxism Studies, School of Humanities and Social Science, Department of Asset Management, and School of Metallurgical and Ecological Engineering delivered reports on their recommendations, discussing how to carry out coordinated personnel management.
On October 15th, all subordinate party organizations organized meetings to discuss the reports and the teaching team-building plan.

Chancellor WU Guilong gave a summary speech
On October 16th, a summary meeting was organized. Mr. WU Guilong, Chancellor of USTB, delivered a concluding speech. He emphasized that USTB should seize the opportunity to further advance the "Three Full-education” reforms and implement the international development plan. With concerted efforts, USTB would successfully conclude the 13th five-year plan and undertake the 14th five-year plan to continue building a "double first-class" university.
