Recently, Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB, and Prof. HE Minqing, Vice President of USTB and other officials visited Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, to strengthen the integration of industry and education by gathering alumni and promote collaborative innovation.
The inaugural meeting of Wuxi Alumni Association of the University of Science and Technology Beijing was held in Wuxi Hubin hotel on May 4. Prof. YANG Renshu and Prof. HE Minqing attended the meeting. Mr. QIU Lianghui, researcher of China Association for Science and Technology and former Vice President and Secretary of the Chinese Society for Dialectics of Nature/Philosophy of Nature, Science And Technology and Mr. SUN Yonglong, former Chancellor of Shougang Institute of Technology, and more than 200 outstanding alumni attended the founding meeting.
Prof. YANG Renshu, on behalf of the school, congratulated the establishment of Wuxi Alumni Association and sent greetings and blessings at the meeting. Prof. YANG Renshu said that the school would celebrate the 70th anniversary next year, and he hoped that alumni would continue to pay attention to the development and progress of USTB. The alumni would encourage each other and make unremitting efforts to pursue career progress and realize the ideal of life with the support of the school and the Alumni Association.
Mr. GAO Xiaofeng, the new president of Wuxi Alumni Association, promised that he would make great efforts to contact the school and alumni enterprises and make achievements and contributions in "serving the old school and the alumni, serving local economy".
Prof. YANG Renshu, Prof. HE Minqing, Mr. GAO Xiaofeng and other officials visited the alumni enterprise CITIC Pacific Special Steel Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CITIC Special Steel Group"). Accompanied by alumni chairman Mr. QIAN Gang and President Mr. LI Guozhong, they had an in-depth understanding of CITIC Special Steel Group's development process, construction achievements and the enterprise's role of product development and application in China's automobile, aerospace and military industry and other fields.
The two sides had discussions on industry-university research cooperation, personnel training, accelerating the promotion of intelligent metallurgy and digital transformation.
During their stay in Wuxi, Prof. YANG Renshu and other officials discussed with Mr. GAO Yaguang, Wuxi Deputy Mayor. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on economic development, scientific and technological innovation, cooperation between government, industry, university, and personnel training, and conducted in-depth communication on building a pragmatic and efficient industry university research cooperation mechanism to serve local high-quality development.
