USTB and Ansteel Sign Strategic Cooperative Framework Agreement

On November 2nd, the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation framework agreement between USTB and Anshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Ansteel"), as well as related academic exchange activities, were held in the exhibition center of Ansteel. Mr. TAN Chengxu, Chairman of Ansteel, Mr. DAI Zhihao, General Manager of Ansteel, Mr. SHAO Anlin and Mr. DUAN Xiangdong, Deputy General Managers of Ansteel,Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB, Prof. MAO Xinping, Academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Prof. WU Aixiang, Vice President of USTB, attended the signing ceremony. Mr. DAI Zhihao and Prof. YANG Renshu signed the strategic cooperative framework agreement on behalf of their respective sides. After the signing ceremony, Mr. TAN Chengxu held talks with Prof. YANG Renshu and his delegation.
Prof. YANG Renshu thanked Ansteel for its support of USTB over the years. He said that Ansteel and USTB have a good tradition and foundation for cooperation. During the 13th Five Year Plan period, many fruitful results were achieved. USTB will continue to support the innovation and development of Ansteel. It is expected that both sides continue to strengthen communication and cooperation, lead the progress of industrial science and technology, and work together to achieve greater future development.
Mr. TAN Chengxu expressed his sincere gratitude to USTB for its support and assistance to Ansteel over the years. He said that Ansteel would thoroughly implement the directives of President XI Jinping and the spirit of Party's Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee, actively respond to the “14th Five-Year plan”, continuously pursue scientific and technological innovation, and strive to achieve self-reliance in science and technology. He hoped that the two sides would speed up school-enterprise cooperation, promote the deep integration of industry, university and research institutions, increase the intensity of opening up and innovation, innovate the mode of cooperation, and achieve win-win development.
After the symposium, the two sides held a meeting for academic exchanges. Prof. MAO Xinping and other experts of USTB gave academic lectures entitled "Continuous Manufacturing Technology and Equipment for Hot Rolled Strip", "The Next-generation Low-cost Ultrastrong Steel via Minimal Lattice Misfit and High-density Nanoprecipitation", "Design, Manufacturing and Characterization of New Environmentally Adaptive Materials", "Design and Manufacturing of Ultrastrong Steel on the Atomic Scale " and "5G Key Applied Technologies for Smart Steel", and discussed cutting-edge technology and development trends of the iron and steel industry with personnel of Ansteel.
According to the agreement, the two sides will carry out comprehensive strategic cooperation in the development of advanced materials, upgrading of metallurgical technology, intelligent manufacturing, green manufacturing, personnel training and communication, etc. On November 3rd, based on the 104 projects already in the early stage of development, experts and scholars of USTB and relevant technical personnel of Ansteel carried out the first series of collaborations, including 4 special sessions and 17 projects, focusing on steel-making, rolling, products and mineral resources.
