USTB Holds the Opening Ceremony of the 7th Youth Science and Technology Culture Festival

On November 3rd the opening ceremony and competition for the 7th USTB Youth Science and Technology Culture Festival was held in the university’s Auditorium & Staff Activity Hall. Prof. XUE Qingguo, Vice Chancellor and Vice President of USTB, as well as other university leaders and more than 800 teachers and students attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Prof. XUE and fellow leaders opened the the 7th USTB Youth Science and Technology Culture Festival and the 21st "Cradle Cup" University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The event began with speeches from two speakers: Mr. JIN Jianli, founder of the ‘Light box’ entrepreneurship project, and Mr. YANG Guoqing, manager of the “Mengziju” entrepreneurial program, who both shared their experiences with startups. Afterward, Mr. LIU Hongxing introduced the project “Bionic Bird Virtual Reality Interactive System” and shared his own experiences in the field of scientific innovation.
During the opening ceremony the awards for the 20th “Cradle Cup” University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the 5th China “Internet +” University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition were presented. In the “Cradle Cup” competition, the School of Materials Science and Engineering was awarded the “Cradle Cup”, while the Donlinks School of Economics and Management, the School of Computer and Communication Engineering, the School of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering were each awarded the “Superior Cup”. In the “Internet +” competition, the Donlinks School of Economics and Management, the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the School of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering each won the “Excellent Organization Award”. Also presented at the opening ceremony were certificates for the 3rd “Dingxin Class” Innovation and Entrepreneur Talent Training Program.
Present at the Festival were Mr. SU Dong, Secretary of the Communist Youth League, Prof. YUAN Wenxia, Chair of the Natural Science Experimental Center, and Mr. SUN Changlin, Associate Director of the Department of Admissions & Career Services.
