USTB Hosts the 15th Capital Universities Red Cross Summit Forum

On the morning of December 15, 2019, the 15th Capital Universities Red Cross Summit Forum and the 3rd “Top 10 AIDS Prevention Activities” award ceremony, jointly hosted by the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Branch and the Red Cross Society of USTB, were held in the Yi Fu Science and Technology Building of USTB. The Forum’s theme was “realizing the dreams of Beijing’s youth”. It aimed to promote the development of the Red Cross Society in Beijing universities and carry forward the spirit of the Red Cross: “humanity, fraternity and dedication”.
Those leaders attending the event included SONG Yonghong, member of the Party group and vice president of the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Branch, WU Xinli, head of the Youth Section of the Organization and Publicity Department of the Red Cross Society of China, SUN Xiaosheng, general manager of the China Economic Information Service Center of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and supervisor of the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Branch, and Prof. XUE Qingguo, Vice Chancellor and Vice President of USTB, and President of the Red Cross Society of USTB.
In his opening speech, Prof. XUE Qingguo, on behalf of USTB, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the leaders of the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Branch who have supported the work of the Red Cross Society of USTB, and warmly welcomed the students who were invited to attend the event.
LU Fangfei, a youth representative of the Red Cross Society and Beijing Film Academy, delivered a speech with the theme of “Non-blood love”. After the speech, WU Xinli from the Red Cross Society of China, LI Shenghua from the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Branch, SONG Yuzhen from the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and ZHOU Jian, President of the Red Cross Society of USTB Student Branch, came together to talk about the prospects and development of Red Cross youth work in the Beijing capital area in the new era.
Afterwards, FENG Kejun, head of the Publicity Department of the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Branch, LI Sujun, vice president of the Red Cross Society of USTB, JIA Bin, researcher at the Network Information Center of the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Branch, XU Yanxia, director of the Finance and Information Department of the China Economic Information Service Center of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and YU Li, producer of ‘People’s Health Academy’ on the Beijing TV life channel, came to the stage to launch the Wechat Matrix of the Red Cross Society of Capital Universities. This collaboration between the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Branch and grass-roots university organizations, in cooperation with the mass-media, serves as a perfect partnership for advancing the work of the involved parties.
During the recently-concluded World AIDS Day, the Red Cross Societies of colleges and universities publicized AIDS prevention awareness in various forms. WANG Zhuoran, HU Xiaoyang, SHEN Yongcheng, LU Nan and DENG Qiwen, members of the Red Cross Society of USTB, performed a rap song to raise AIDS awareness. Their goal was to get more people interested in learning about the disease in a more fashionable and cool way. At the climax of the event, SONG Yonghong, WU Xinli and other leaders presented awards to and took photos with the school representatives who won the “Top 10 AIDS Prevention Activities”.
SONG Yonghong said in her speech that youth are the foundation, momentum, and pioneers of the Red Cross Society. The responsibility and obligation of every person in the Red Cross is to carry forward the spirit of “humanity, fraternity and dedication”, and fully devote themselves to the innovation, reform and development of the Red Cross Society in Beijing universities in the new era.
Other leaders and guests attending the event included SONG Yuzhen, vice consultant of the Department of Sports and Art Education of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Secretary-General of the School Working Committee of the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Branch, REN Jing, Vice Chancellor of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of Beijing You’an Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, SUN Ye, Cyberspace Affairs Center of the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Branch, JIA Bin, researcher at the Network Information Center of the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Branch, LIU Xinzhan, director of AIDS prevention of the Emergency Rescue Department of the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Branch, XU Jiannong, deputy director of the Office of Youth Red Ribbon Association of Capital Universities, FANG Huilai, general manager of Beijing Jinhao Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., as well as instructors and students from Red Cross Socities of more than 50 universities in Beijing.
