USTB Ranks 446 in QS World University Rankings 2021

On June 10th the QS World University Rankings 2021 was released. More than 1,000 universities from all over the world were evaluated, with 83 Chinese universities included on the list. This year, USTB was ranked 446, an increase in 16 places, putting it in the top 500 global universities for three consecutive years.
The QS World University Rankings evaluates the largest number of academic disciplines and is one of the top university ranking organizations. Its official website (www.TopUniversities.com) had more than 149 million visits in 2019.
This year 10 disciplines were ranked in the top 500 of QS World University Rankings by Subject, including Materials Science, Environmental Science, Biological Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics & Astronomy, Chemical Engineering, Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing, and Computer Science & Information Systems, ranking it 26 in mainland China.
In the Academic Ranking of World Universities, 7 USTB disciplines were ranked in the top 100, including Metallurgical Engineering (No. 1 in the world), Mining Engineering, Control Science & Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nanometer Science & Technology, and Energy Science and Engineering.
In addition to the QS World University Rankings, USTB’s disciplines have been recognized by other organizations. Safety Science & Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Science & Engineering have been recognized as Beijing Advanced Disciplines.
According to ESI, the disciplines of Materials Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, and Environmental & Ecological continue to rank firmly in the global top 1%. Meanwhile, 13 majors are selected as National First Class Majors, which include Materials Science & Engineering, Material Physics, Computer Science & Technology, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Information Management & Information System, Mechanical Engineering, Energy & Power Engineering, Communication Engineering, Automation, Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, and Mineral Processing Engineering.
A total of 12 majors have been accredited by the Higher Education Evaluation Center of the MOE and China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA). They include Mechanical Engineering, Measurement & Control Technology & Instruments, Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Automation, Computer Science & Technology, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Safety Engineering.
Finally, Materials Science & Engineering and Energy & Power Engineering were chosen as part of the Beijing “First-class Discipline Construction” Initiative.
