USTB Signs Cooperation Agreement with the National Museum of China

On the morning of October 23, USTB and the National Museum of China held a signing ceremony for a cooperative agreement in the Jade Hall of the National Museum of China. Mr. WANG Chunfa, Director of the National Museum of China, Mr. CHEN Chengjun, Executive Deputy Director of the National Museum of China, Mr. WU Guilong, Chancellor of USTB, and Prof. WU Aixiang, Vice President of USTB, attended the signing ceremony.


At the signing ceremony, Mr. WANG first warmly welcomed Mr. WU and the USTB delegation, and then reviewed the long-standing history of cooperation between the two institutions. He spoke of how it is necessary for museums to break academic barriers and provide a platform for the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and technical sciences, in addition to providing resources for research projects. In combination with its own development, the National Museum seeks the support of scientific and technological experts in the areas of the protection and restoration of cultural relics, so as to build a platform to facilitate and coordinate their work to help bring those relics alive to the public. He said that given USTB’s strengths in the ‘History of Science & Technology’ discipline, the archeology of technology and cultural relics preservation, the National Museum is eager to cooperate in order to carry out in-depth work in personnel training, academic research, and activities concerning exhibitions.

Mr. WU expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and gave a brief introduction of USTB, paying special attention to the ‘History of Science & Technology’ discipline and its role in USTB's "double first-class" university construction. He spoke of how the long-standing history of cooperation between the ‘History of Science and Technology’ team established by Academician KE Jun and various cultural institutions. Mr. WU expressed his belief that the day’s signing activity was an opportunity to deepen cooperation between USTB and the National Museum of China, while making new contributions to the protection and promotion of traditional Chinese culture. Finally, Mr. WU extended his heartfelt thanks for the support given to USTB, and conveyed his hopes the assemblage could continue to contribute to the development of the ‘History of Science & Technology’ discipline at the university.

Following that, Mr. CHEN and Prof. WU jointly signed the "Strategic Cooperation Agreement between the National Museum of China and the University of Science and Technology Beijing". According to the agreement, the two sides will further collaborate on personnel training, scientific research, achievement transformation and the improvement of innovative abilities, with each party seeing mutual benefits and advancement through deeper integration.
