Delegation of the National Autonomous University of Mexico Visited USTB and Signed a Cooperation Agreement

On November 5th, Dr. William Lee, Vice Chancellor of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), led a delegation to USTB for communication and exchange. Prof. LYU Zhaoping, Vice President of USTB attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Prof. LYU Zhaoping introduced the current status of USTB and the cooperation between USTB and Mexican universities. He indicated that the year 2024 is the “Year of Internationalization” for USTB, in order to further promote the opening-up initiative, USTB actively expands the scope of international education, science & technology, and people-to-people exchanges. Through this meeting, USTB will further strengthen the substantive cooperation with UNAM in faculty visits, student exchange, scientific research, etc. to take advantage on each other’s strengths and achieve win-win cooperation.

Dr. William Lee introduced the history, disciplinary advantage, talent cultivation of UNAM. He indicated that the educational exchanges between Chinese and Mexican universities are of great significance in promoting mutual understanding and friendship and improving the development of internationalization of universities. UNAM will actively promote cooperation with USTB to continuously enrich the connotation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two universities.
Signing the Cooperation Agreement
The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as cooperation in scientific research, metallurgical engineering, etc. Subsequently, Prof. LYU Zhaoping and Dr. William Lee signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of the two universities.

The year 2024 marks the "Year of Internationalization" of USTB. USTB will take this cooperation as an opportunity to expand exchanges and cooperation in Latin America, building an exchange platform for teachers and students from China and Mexico, and jointly cultivating talents with international horizon, to jointly promote the innovative and integrated development of higher education between China and Mexico.
Relevant personnel from the Office of International Affairs and the School of Metallurgical and Ecological Engineering attended the meeting.
