USTB Enters Strategic Partnership with Jiangsu Yonggang Group

On December 12th, USTB hosted the “USTB-Jiangsu Yonggang Group Strategic Cooperative Agreement” signing ceremony as well as the presentation of the “Yonggang Fund”. Those present at the event were Mr. WU Yaofang, Chief Executive of the Board of the Jiangsu Yonggang Group, Mr. ZHANG Liuyu, Director of the Board, Vice President and General Manager of Lianfeng Industrial Co., Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB, Prof. HE Minqing, Vice President of USTB, as well as other leaders and guests. The ceremony was presided over by Ms. YIN Zhaohua, Director of the Department of Admissions & Career Services.
During the ceremony, Prof. HE and Mr. ZHANG signed the “USTB-Jiangsu Yonggang Group Strategic Cooperative Agreement” and the "Yonggang Fund Donation Agreement". According to the agreement, the Jiangsu Yonggang Group donated 2 million RMB to set up a fund in order to support the development of education at USTB. Prof. YANG officially accepted the donation on behalf of USTB and presented Mr. WU with a certificate and plaque commemorating the ceremony.
Following the signing, the two sides held a brief exchange. Mr. WU reviewed the history of cooperation between the Jiangsu Yonggang Group and USTB and expressed his hope that through the signing of the agreement the two parties would establish a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership. He then spoke of how establishing the “Yonggang Fund” would serve to cultivate promising news talents and provide employment guidance for future graduates. He concluded saying that teachers and students who came to the Yonggang Group would be guaranteed excellent opportunities for research and further training.
Prof. YANG conveyed his sincere gratitude on behalf of USTB for the Yonggang Group’s donation. He spoke of how the two parties had established a deep friendship and achieved many fruitful results after twenty years of cooperation. He also hoped that both USTB and the Yonggang Group would use the signing of the cooperation agreement as a new starting point to further deepen their work in areas including technical instrument research and development, personnel training, technical exchanges, and the transformation of research results into tangible products. Through such collaboration both sides would seek to play to their strengths to ensure mutual benefits for each partner.
Before the signing ceremony, Mr. WU’s delegation visited the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Metallurgy, the State Key Laboratory for Advanced Metals and Materials and the University History Museum. They attended two meetings with relevant departments of USTB and the representative heads of each school. They discussed issues including scientific research achievements, student employment, on-the-job training, undergraduate and graduate cultivation, postgraduate technology services, and the development of postdoctoral stations.
