Further discussions in regards to cooperation in higher education were also undertaken at the “2019 International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application”. Prof. YANG expressed his belief that such exchange opportunities had laid a strong foundation for USTB to pursue cooperation with KPI.
He continued by saying that USTB seeks to engage in in-depth cooperation with prestigious international universities in the areas of personnel training, education, and joint research. With the signing of a cooperative agreement between USTB and KPI, Prof. YANG expressed optimism that the two universities would see great results in research and development in the field of engineering.
In his address, Prof. Sydorenko first expressed his gratitude for USTB’s hospitality. He then gave a brief report on KPI, highlighting its strengths in science and engineering as well as its development strategy. He continued by discussing KPI’s history and friendship with China; it has trained over 1,000 Chinese graduates, many of whom would return to China and experience great success in their work. He expressed his hope that by signing a cooperative agreement the two universities would be able to work closely together especially in the fields of materials and metallurgy for the common benefit of both institutions.
Prof. WU Aixiang and Prof. Sydorenko each signed the cooperative agreement on behalf of their respective institutions. Prof. WANG Luning, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, along with Prof. Sydorenko also signed a concept of creation for the establishment of the “KPI-USTB Joint Laboratory for Materials Science and High Technologies”.
