USTB Ranks in the Top 300 in the “2020 ShanghaiRanking’s Academic Ranking of World Universities”

Recently the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, a leading education evaluation organization, gave us the answer. On August 15th, the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy released the 2020 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), in which the 1000 best universities in the world are ranked. A total of 144 universities in mainland China were included on the list. The University of Science and Technology Beijing was placed in the top 300 for the first time. USTB’s academic level, global influence, and competitive edge continue to soar, and has made great leaps for several consecutive years.

In 2018, ranked 401-500;
In 2019 ranked 301-400;
In 2020 ranked 201-300.
Why has USTB's ranking kept increasing in recent years?
The University of Science and Technology Beijing is one of China’s top key universities under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education (MOE). We were chosen to be part of the national “Double First-Class Initiative”, “211 Project”, and “985 Platform for National Advanced Disciplines Innovation”. In the QS World University Rankings, we have been in the top 500 global universities for three consecutive years and are ranked No. 21 among all universities in mainland China.
In the fourth round of discipline evaluation organized by the MOE, we have 16 disciplines listed in the national top 30%, ranking USTB No. 22 in mainland China. Four disciplines were selected to be developed as internationally top-ranked disciplines, making us the No. 26 university in China.
We have 10 disciplines listed in the top 500 of QS World University Rankings by Subject, ranking it No. 26 in mainland China. A total of eight disciplines were listed in the top 100 of ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, with Metallurgical Engineering ranking first in the world.
According to ESI, the disciplines of Materials Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, and Environmental & Ecological continue to rank firmly in the global top 1%.
A total of 13 majors have been selected as National First-Class Majors and 13 majors have been accredited by the Higher Education Evaluation Center of the MOE and China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA). The Donlinks School of Economics and Management was accredited by AMBB (the third university being accredited in Beijing) and AACSB (the nineteenth university being accredited in mainland China and the fifth in Beijing), putting it in the list of international high-level business schools.
